Who owns VION UK?

VION Food Group Ltd is part of the VION Food Group (VION N.V.), a Dutch based company and one of Europe’s largest food manufacturers.

VION Holding N.V. is a Dutch public limited company whose registered seat is in Best, the Netherlands. The company is managed by an Executive Board, which is supervised by an independent Supervisory Board. The company is a public limited company, which is not listed. The General Meeting of Shareholders has far-reaching powers. The company has one shareholder, NCB Ontwikkeling, which is closely affiliated with the Zuidelijke Land- en Tuinbouworganisatie (ZLTO). VION is a strategic holding for ZLTO, serving its members’ long-term interests.

Our business headquarters are based in Livingston, Scotland, where a streamlined operation looks to support activities within three core Business Units – Red Meat, Pork, and Poultry – as well as to our Added Value business encompasses Pizza and Foodservice offerings.

How does VION Food Group Ltd support farmers and the increased consumer demand for high welfare meat products?

The farming heritage of VION runs strongly through our UK operations, with two of the core Business units – Pork and Poultry, being supplied wholly or in part by their own farms and this agricultural expertise is essential to our ability to meet customer demand.  In addition, we work with major retailers in the development of supply chain schemes. Demand for high welfare products is increasing and VION’s welfare competence represents a competitive advantage.

Hot on the social and political agenda is a manufacturer’s ‘green credentials’. What is VION UK doing to ensure it is an environmentally viable business?

VION aims for sustainability throughout the entire chain and concern for the environment and the health of our animals is core. Responsibility and awareness of the impact of our activities is also embedded in our activities, so much so, that our focus on sustainability won a ‘Best Respect for the Environment’ award for our Poultry business unit from a major retail client last year.
